Proposal - Extend Belle Vue car park – currently 32 spaces to 118 (1996 plan) cost £300,000
Benefits
2010/11 income Belle Vue car park £1,000 per space per year versus Victoria Road car park £250 p.a.
Connects the hill tourist to the town – 1,000,000 p.a. walk the hills
Belle Vue car park is the first car park visitors entering from the north encounter (70% arrivals)
MHDC car parking service becomes profitable
Provides parking for overnight stayers at the Foley Arms
Environmentally neutral – not visible from the town or hills
Elevation – parking at a convenient elevation … maximising usage

Belle Vue land is owned by 4 entities
Land Locked - current owners receive no revenue
Lease rather than buy land
Japanese knotweed infested.. Owner’s responsibility... Proposal will remove
